Howdy,

You can also pick up a version of pdftricks I've put together that  
uses latex->dvips->ps2pdf14->pdfcrop as its workflow as well as adding  
some more options. It's based on 1.16 and can be downloaded as  
NewPdftricks.zip from <http://homepage.mac.com/herbs2>.

The original figure file processing workflow, latex->dvips->ps2eps- 
 >eps2pdf seemed to create a bounding box that was too tight in  
certain situations.
