I'd write: you *should* try this! Updmap at least /was/ stupid, could  
be it still /is/, in that it can record a MAP file fragment as  
belonging to its assets although it has not been successfully  
integrated into the MAP file. Then it helps to disable that MAP file  
fragment and then enable it again.

Updmap can be accelerated a lot by passing in a series (batch) of  
updmap commands to all but the last invocation these two options:

	 --nohash --nomkmap
