Not really (you can simply rename the root of a branch). You can also  
try:

	rm -rf ~/.texlive2008

to remove personal MAP or FMT files that can be faulty. The MAP files  
(not its fragments) can be found in ~/.texlive<year>/texmf-var/fonts/ 
map/{dvipdfm|dvips|pdftex}/updmap. These personal files are preferred  
over those from the system.

You can try to solve a problem with your personal MAP files by  
removing the lucida MAP file fragment and enabling it again.
