There had been a problem with Snow Leopard earlier where the autosave feature caused a "fake crash" (a recurring Finder alert stating incorrectly that LyX had crashed). This has now been "fixed" by a workaround, and I've been using LyX 1.6.5 (compiled from source) without trouble on Snow Leopard since early December.

The 1.6.4 version of Lyx came in two versions; one for Panther->Leopard (220.127.116.11) and one for Snow Leopard (18.104.22.168). The new version only comes as 1.6.5 but there is a disclaimer on the download page, <http://www.lyx.org/Download>, saying it is not for Snow Leopard. I don't know if this statement is just a left-over from the previous version(s) or is still true. If the latter it would be nice to know if/when a Snow Leopard version will be forthcoming. This is so the MacTeXtras distribution can be updated.

Thanks for the information. The Lyx folks should be made aware of the leftover comment about 10.6 on that web page. I've replaced Lyx 22.214.171.124 and 126.96.36.199 by the single 1.6.5 application in MacTeXtras with a nice saving of file size.
