Mac is based on BSD and cp is BSD cp. The options differ for GNU cp. If
you need cp -aL, you need to install GNU cp. A useful strategy is to
install the GNU cp as gcp so that cp still accesses the BSD command but
you can easily access the GNU version using gcp.
