[OS X TeX] OT? British -> American Spelling

Dear All,

Sorry for a slightly off-topic post, but I thought that someone here might
have run into the same problem, and indeed, I got a strong
recommendation to ask it here.

I have a very long latex project (c. 90,000 words over several files)
that I need to convert from British into American English spelling.  I
don't suppose there is any way to use aspell or some other unix tool
to do this automatically, is there?

I found a tool called respell that looked good:

though it looks as if it hasn't been updated in ages, and I couldn't
get it to work with my 10.5 installation of Perl.

Does anyone have any suggestions? All help gratefully appreciated!
