[OS X TeX] Refreshing the filname database

You will find an application called "Terminal" in /Applications/ 
Utilities
Open that application and you will see a command prompt.

Type in:
     which texhash

If you don't see "/usr/texbin/texhash" output, then there is something  
wrong with your PATH environment variable.
You can (temporarily) overcome this problem by typing:
     export PATH=/usr/texbin:$PATH
Then try Peter's suggestion:
     sudo -H texhash
