[OS X TeX] Order of numbered files

I suspect this to be at least half OT.

I have a folder in which there are the files 1.tex, 2.tex, 3.tex ... 
50.tex

(1) When I select all the files in that folder and then open them,  
the order in which they then appear on the screen seems random or  
perhaps has to do with the time last opened or the phase of the moon  
or whatever. Is this to be blamed on Steve Jobs or on me?

(2) When, in TeXShop 2.26 under OS X 10.4.11, I click on Window, the  
files are listed as 1.tex, 10.tex, 11.tex, 11.tex, ... 19.tex, 2.tex,  
20.tex, 21.tex, etc Not as bad but still. Is this to be blamed on  
Steve Jobs or on me?
