Preview, TeXShop, and Skim all use Apple's PDFKit, which has some bugs in it; Adobe uses its own PDF rendering code. If you get the same results in all three of the PDFKit viewers but not in Adobe's, chances are that the the problem is with the viewers, not your PDF's.
