[OS X TeX] LaTeXiT producing blank output

I did see these errors when I compiled latexit-1-2.tex myself.

I am not using a personal template as far as I know. The preamble is
the LaTeXiT default and does not explicitely load the geometry
package. But LaTeXiT does provide cropped PDFs, so perhaps that is
why it is loaded?

I've modified the preamble so it now specifies a paper size. I've 
tried both of:

\documentclass[10pt,letterpaper]{article}
\documentclass[10pt,letter]{article}

And get the same results / error messages.

Any suggestions how to fix whatever is causing problems with the
geometry package?
