[OS X TeX] Footnote font size

Hi Alan,

With apology, I'm top-posting. That will take care of my sin-for-the-day project.

Thanks for the improvements relative the use of double spacing. I did notice the following:

With {memoir} the document class, \doublespacing was not recognized but \DoubleSpacing worked, except that the footnotes were not doubled, as expected. \DoubleSpacing* worked as you claimed. :--)

Since I use {book} most of the time, I experimented with that class.

\foottextfont was rejected as undefined

\doublespacing was effective in the body text but had no effect in the footnotes

\doublespacing* threw up an error message and ignoring the error message produced a PDF with a lonely asterisk at the beginning of the body text.

I suppose that

\begin{spacing}{<spacing parameter>} .... \end{spacing}

would be useful if one wanted but a few lines double-spaced within a document. It works fine in class {book}.

Well ..... I'll have to remember all this when I slip into a double-spacing mood in the future.

Thank you for your always informative reply. :--)
