Michael,
At this stage, the easy way out is to stick with what you've got.
If you run the "FixMacTeX2011" utility on the MacTeX web page, you'll get
build 150 of the Pref Pane, but that Pane probably won't understand the
TeX Dist Data Structure, and thus you might lose the ability to get to those
64 bit binaries.
