Hi

In TL there is a file /usr/local/texlive/2010/texmf.cnf.
I would like to know if it's possible to put this file inside
 the texmf-local folder because when I install TL 2011 I need
 to modify this file. For my personal settings I put

TEXINPUTS.pdflatex = .;$HOME/Boulot/Base//;$TEXMF/tex/{latex,generic,}//
TEXINPUTS.pdfelatex = .;$HOME/Boulot/Base//;$TEXMF/tex/{latex,generic,}//

at the end of texmf.cnf.

the preamble of texmf.cnf is :

% This texmf.cnf file should contain only your personal changes from the
% original texmf.cnf (for example, as chosen in the installer).
%
% That is, if you need to make changes to texmf.cnf, put your custom
% settings in this file, which is .../texlive/YYYY/texmf.cnf, rather than
% the distributed file (which is .../texlive/YYYY/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf).
% And include *only* your changed values, not a copy of the whole thing!

Best regards

Alain Matthes
