All,

If I am in an enumerate environment, is it possible to start an align* environment?

This didn't work:

\item However, the graph of $y=-3$, being a horizontal line, has slope zero. Also note that the $y4-intercept of this graph is $(0,-3)$. If we substitute these numbers into $y=mx+b$, we get:
\begin{align*}
y&=mx+b
&&{\color{darkred}\text{Slope-intercept form.}}\\
y&=0x+(-3)
&&{\color{darkred}\text{Substitute: $0$ for $m$, $-3$ for $b$.}}\\
y&=-3
&&{\color{darkred}\text{Simplify.}}
\end{align*}

./section6.tex:523: Package amsmath Error: \begin{align*} allowed only in parag
raph mode.
