[OS X TeX] Custom Package... Where to put it?

Hi,

I've modified an existing package. It seems to work only when it is located
in the same directory as the document. Where can I place this custom
package so that tex can find it? I was thinking ~/Library/texmf, but that
isn't working. Thanks.
