This mainly consists of an interface file hletter1.tex (which define \aleph, \bet, etc.), as well as MetaFont files (such as hclassic.mf) for Hebrew fonts. This works fine for the small amount of Hebrew I might want to put into my documents (e.g., for a dedication).

I tired that, hoping that the problem was simply the design size issue. It didn't work: there was no Hebrew whatsoever. I also tried testfont.tex; the only thing that appeared in the table as an ayin and the aleph-lamed combination.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough in describing my problem. In short, the PK versions of Joel Hoffman's fonts (which I've been using since at least 1997), work just fine. But every time I update TeXLive, I need to disable arabtex.map, which uses hclassic-4.pfb. Although this isn't a major pain, I'd like to use the most up-to-date version. Is there something bestides hletter1.tex that I should be using?
Thanks.
