My TeX Live Utility just updated to version 1.0. (Before TeXLive 
2012/MacTeX 2012) has been released.

Do I correctly surmise that the Utility's Preference Panel setting

    "Automatically enable fonts in my home directory"

is what will cause updmap to be run automatically whenever an update 
uses updmap-sys?
