[OS X TeX] PDFs with gradient mesh applied don't appear

Greetings,
As a visually oriented person who has
accidentally come to need to learn a few things
about LaTex, I've followed bits and pieces of
this thread. From the long distant days when I
was a graphic artist, I recall that outputting
Illustrator's gradient mesh was a quirky and
unpredictable matter.
So for curiosity I opened the file attached by
Herb, only to find that it compiles just fine on
my machine.
What you may find to be of interest is that I'm
running TexShop v. 2.33 on OS 10.4.11, which I
suppose will be regarded as antiques by most
participants here.
