Howdy,

I had the same problem of seeing generic document icons. Rebuilt LaunchServices using Onyx and they still were generic then re-booted (this isn't supposed to ever be needed with OS X?) and the real document icons were there.

Unfortunately, although the icon looks ok in larger sizes I often have it in 32x32 and even 16x16 and it is totally illegible in those smaller sizes. Even TeX is illegible and completely pixelated.

It looks like the UTExportTypeDeclaration is completely missing in the info.plist. I don't understand any of that stuff.
