[OS X TeX] TeXShop 3.18 no longer has icons for .tex files

> Thanks for the reply. I used Cocktail from Maintain. Didn't work, so I tried Mountain Lion Cache Cleaner.app and it didn't work either. Tried the Safe Boot with no luck. Creating a new file gives me the same plain white rectangle. I am not having trouble on my iMac which is still running OS X 10.8.3 (I did not update to 10.8.4) so that may be my problem.

How did you use Mountain Lion Cache Cleaner? I usually do a Light Cleaning but check off Clean the Local, System and all Users cache which should require a full restart. I've had to do that more than once some times when I end up with wierd file associations.

``TeX Document'' is what TeXworks calls a document, TeXShop calls at .tex document a ``TeX File,'' BBEdit calls it a ``TeX document'' and I have no idea what calls it a ``TeX source file.'' Could you try to temporarily zip those up and then rebuild Launch Services?

I think it's more than cosmetic! I think the OS is confused about something but I have no idea what that is.
