[OS X TeX] Deleting a piece of text on texshop editor -issue

I have never seen this in TeXShop on any of my MacBook Pros. You may have a trackpad gesture turned on that is causing this to happen. Head to System Preferances > Trackpad and mess with some of the settings there.
