Sigh...

Only one more thing to try. Assuming you placed the TeX.mdimporter in ~/Library/Spotlight execute

mdimport -r ~/Library/Spotlight/TeX.mdimporter

in Terminal.

Still don't know if it'll work at all. Just throwing stuff into the wind to see it it flies.
