It is not meant to be plain text.
It is meant to have the raised, smaller uppercase A
and the lowered, slightly smaller uppercase E.
Set it once properly (i.e. with appropriate kerning)
inside a box, then have your macro just copy the box.
If you need different sizes, e.g for headings, then the macro
can involve scaling the box to match the font height.

I think it should always be upright.
Indeed, always with serifs.
If you are concerned about Copy/Paste, or other forms of text extraction, then tag the logo using /ActualText , to supply a textual replacement. This is precisely one of the stated purposes of /ActualText .
