I still love TeX, I like the way the typsetting can look above all. I also like writing while not being distracted too much by how it looks, but getting a good result nonetheless.

I use ConTeXt, which has its pros and cons. Pros is that it is a nice mix of conceptual writing (including well working niceties like indexes, references, etc.) and enough influence on how the end result looks, t's more graphically oriented than LaTeX. I changed my first project over to ConTeXt years ago because I liked the ideas behind ConTeXt (as far as I could discern them), ConTeXt is powerful. It is also actively maintained (while LaTeX is, afaik still rather dead). The con of ConTeXt is that ConTeXt is run like a hobby project, hence, no decent documentation (sometimes people tell you you need to read the source code to find out what it does or can do, seriously), you're in fact working with a constantly changing toolkit that is being built and changed/tinkered with by a few illuminati/geeks. I'm using the somewhat frozen older mkii version, which gives some stability, the tinkerig these days is in the mkiv version (LuaTeX) which I have stayed away from.
