After some digging around, I see that the fonts themselves are all part of TeX Live 2013, but other stix support files are nowhere to be found. Is this by design? Do I need to install the support files in my local tree and enable stix manually?

Possibly answering my own question, I see that on Jan 2, STIX 1.1.1 was released with the following description:

It looks like this means that this update will add LaTeX support files. It hasn’t shown up yet in TLU for me, so I guess I will just wait.
