I agree with Herb on this, and I take the same approach with Time Machine, leaving automatic backups turned off but manually turning on a backup at the end of the day if there is anything important that I think I need to protect. Computers, hard drives and SSDs do fail, but so infrequently that it’s senseless to worry about protecting every second of your work during the day.
