Berend,

I emailed you a file named OpenSelection.plist which can be used to get the macro into your Macros Menu.

1. TeXShop->Macros->Open Macro Editor
2, TeXShop->Macros->Add Macros from file
3. Choose OpenSelection.plist
4. Move it to a convenient place on your Macros Menu.

There are other, more general methods to add macros. The TeXShop Help provides one such method to add all macros from a file. You might find it more convenient to use to use MacroCopier from

which allows you to to copy one or more macros from either an external source or TeXShop's macros plist. In any event, you should be aware that there are several Macros menus---one for ConTeXt, one for Plain TeX and one for LaTeX. If your front document specifies (2nd popup menu from the left at the top of the document) either of the first two, that determines the corresponding menu. All others show the LaTeX menu. Since "Open Selection" applies to both Plain TeX and LaTeX, it should be installed on both menus. (I don't know about ConTeXt.)
