[OS X TeX] Displaying in Adobe Reader vs. Preview

You have done nothing wrong. That has nothing to do with pdf, it depends on the way each application displays it.
I don’t have adobe reader on any of my macs, so I can’t say if there is any preference setting in that application that allows you to change the way it displays pages in two-page mode, but that is where I’d look
