It does. At least analysing the TexShop shows it.
And it is this and not tex itself heating up the notebook extremely when using TexShop. With Texmaker running there are no temperature problems at all.
There are several graphic cards having issues with OpenGL. This isn't a hidden secret. Else Apple would not have replaced my board for free. And, of course: the problem is not limited to Macbooks and IMacs. The time my other computer died PC users have had same problems with dying graphic cards very often, when running OpenGL applications.
And as TexShop is no graphic program, I cannot see any reason to use OpenGL (which is for fast enhanced graphics). Despite that: OpenGL increases power consumption a lot.
It's a pity as TexShop on the other hand is very nice to use and the internal pdf viewer sends files correctly to the printer, while the internal viewer of texmaker prints letters with totally wrong size and printing margins. At least using preview solves the problem with texmaker's viewer and printing.
