I finally found the old Inbox and Sent boxes in the V3 subfolder of the Mail folder in my personal Library. I could tell that the Sent box was correct because Get Info indicated that it was huge in size. So, I selected Import Mailboxes under the Mail File menu, Selected Import data from Apple Mail*, clicked the Continue button, and then selected the Sent box that contained the old stuff. I repeated with the Inbox. They were put into “Import” mailboxes that appeared in Mail. Then I had to select and drag the contents of each to the respective Inbox and Sent boxes. I was sweating for a while, and the solution was painful, but I seem to have gotten all my old messages back. I don’t know why they put me through this torture.

Thanks for the above which should help me even though I am only trying to figure out how to move my mail from my new old machine (10.6) to my newer old machine (10.10). What a waste of time.
