[OS X TeX] Still no short table of contents

In my case, a shortoc showing just chapters and sections gives a two-page overview of the book structure, which is easy to grasp at a quick glance. Then, a complete toc up to subsections, and at some points even subsubsections, gives an in-depth, five-page summary, where you can search for the precise place a particular topic appears. For a 500+ pages book, I find this very useful, as seen in some recently published books of my specialty. This depends on the type and number of (sub)sections of the book, I suppose.
