[OS X TeX] [WARNING - NOT VIRUS SCANNED] TeX Live 2016 Pretest

Simon,

Thanks for these reports!

But I have to tell you that sending them to ME won’t
do any good.

My attitude, and the attitude of the folks making TeX Live, is that no binary
should CRASH, ever. So we’ll stay on top of the original bug you reported.

However, TeX Live just retrieves style packages and the like from CTAN.
The many changes in LuaTeX, including abandoning some primitives
and introducing new ones, means that problems in style files are inevitable.

As we understand it, the LaTeX folks have been on top of errors for their
packages. To fix errors in other packages that are more LuaTeX explicit,
you need to write the authors of those packages directly. You might also
write the authors of LuaTeX.

Luckily, this is not such an urgent matter since style and class files
can be updated over the year by TLU. So our guess is that many problems
will remain even after the RELEASE of TeX Live 2016, but will gradually
be fixed over the year.

You have done an excellent job of rooting out problems.
Thanks a lot for that; we really appreciate it. Now please notify the
package authors!

Dick Koch
