[OS X TeX] Do you have `make`?

Herb,

I am not sure, but  in a  blank El Capitan install /usr/bin/make may only be a stub. Running it will bring up a dialog to  prompt you to install either the CL tools or the full Xcode. (This is what I saw from the last laptop I handled.)
