I gave other suggestions. Use the Key Bindings Editor and check that ( is actually bound to (#SEL##INS#). 

By the way, I just took a look at the default autocompletion.plist file in TeXShop 3.62 and there was no binding for ( there. You can add it to the list using the editor.
