I am trying to use the Garamond font using the following statements.
\usepackage[urw-garamond]{mathdesign}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
I have installed TeXLive 2017 on OS X 10.11.6. However, I get the following error messages.
...
!pdfTeX error: /Library/TeX/texbin/pdflatex (file ugmm8a.pfb): cannot open Type
1 font file for reading
==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced!

URW-Garamond is not part of TeX Live (which is installed by the MacTeX installer package). You need to download and install it separately in the appropriate loactions in /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local. I believe there is a script you can get (getnonfreefonts?) that you can get that will do that for you.

The 2017 version is a little different from the previous ones.
I installed the script and it appeared to run correctly. However, I still got the same error message. I instead used the CormorantGaramond font which works and I'm a happy camper. Thank you for your prompy replies.
