[OS X TeX] TexLive Utility proxy negotiations

Hallo,

Since the local education authority has adopted a new proxy filter
(smoothwall),
TeXLive Utility cannot update packages at my school, works fine from home.
When flagging the problem to the IT department, I was informed that
TeXLive Utility does not seem to be negotiating properly with the web
proxy. All ftp traffic is blocked.
I could not find any helpful documentation on the issue.

Could you please advise?
