[OS X TeX] TeXShop 3.77 slow opening source files?

I am not in a position to provide an answer here, but a question does come to mind: Is there a risk that the combination Texshop, Dropbox, and some version of the MacOS (10.12,3, in this case) does not work well?

To temporarily turn syncing off click on the DropBox icon and then hover your mouse over the up to date message at the lower left of the window; it will change to a pause syncing message which you can then click. See if that helps.
