[OS X TeX] Problem opening urls from within a Beamer document

Hi Paul,

You haven’t put in the protocol: “http://docs.julialang.org/en/v1 “

The protocol is “vital” otherwise the PDF browser
doesn’t know whether you are providing a local URI, to a file on disk,
or whether it needs to call a web-browser to open the link.

The lazy habit, that has arisen with web-browsers,
of leaving out the protocol is something that will bite back badly.
This is just one example of this.

It’s OK when the choice of possible protocols is limited;
but inside a PDF file, that certainly is *not* the case.

Hope this helps

Ross

Hi all,

I've used TeXShop and the LuaLaTeX engine for a good while, but just recently I
A. Started using Beamer; and
B. Upgraded to macos Big Sur.

MY CODE (excerpts):

\usepackage{hyperref}

---

\begin{frame}{Julia's official documentation is excellent}
\centerline{\url{docs.julialang.org/en/v1<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/tZiqC6XQ68fQDx2jImiiE9?domain=docs.julialang.org>}}
\end{frame}

THE PROBLEM:

Compiling the package works fine, but when I click on the

          docs.julialang.org/en/v1<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/tZiqC6XQ68fQDx2jImiiE9?domain=docs.julialang.org>

link I get a pop-up error from the OS that says:

     The application can't be opened
      -50

Thanking you all in advance for any help!
