That is good news.
> MacTeX-2021 is meant for macOS 10.14, 10.15 and 11 (Mojave, Catalina and Big Sur) and the binaries are FULLY Universal, i.e., they have both x86_64 Intel as well as arm64 (Apple Silicon) code so have full parity between Intel and Arm systems. The binaries are now stored in a 2021/bin/universal-darwin directory rather than the previous YEAR/bin/x86_64-darwin folder; this is only for your information since the usual TeX Dist structure information takes care of setting up the system automatically.
Since I still use 10.13, I installed the Darwin-legacy version with the Unix installer.
I copied
.FactoryDefaults/TeXLive-2021
and
TeXLive-2021.texdist
from a Mac running 11.2 to the machine running 10.13.
and changed
rm texbin
ln -s x86_64-legacy texbin
inside TeXLive-2021/Contents/Programs
and everything seems to work fine.
The first updates have already arrived.
Thanks for the good work.
Axel
