Eric,

TeXShop works fine on Monterey; I've used it on that system since it was released to developers last June.

When you get the sort of strange behavior you describe, it is often due to a broken defaults database. To fix that,
carefully follow these steps:

a) Quit TeXShop

b) Go to ~/Library/Preferences and drag the file "TeXShop.plist" to the desktop or trash

c) Restart TeXShop. The program will create a new preference file.

d) Reset any preferences you may have changed.


These steps should only be used in the situation you describe when the entire program seems to have broken.
