[OS X TeX] pdf conversion

I create my illustrations in Illustrator, get an .eps file.
I drop the .eps file onto the TeXShop icon, to have it converted to .pdf.

For a while, I have a problem. The .pdf file has a lot of space on the top, needs to be cropped.

Why?
