[OS X TeX] Typesetting program code in LaTeX - what packages to use?

I've been using:

and keep telling myself I'm going to find the time to look into colour-coding to match the editor I use, but I haven't found time for that.

If such colour-coding requires an external program, my apologies (can't remember if that was the block on my doing this).
