[OS X TeX] XeLaTeX and fontspec issue

Okay. I seem to have fixed it. Long story short, I had a bunch of fonts, including a Times New Roman file, in /Library/Fonts folders that weren’t system level. Herb’s mention of /System/Library/Fonts/Supplemental sent me looking for a system level Fonts folder with that Supplemental folder in it. I found it, confirmed Times New Roman was in there, and deleted all the other font files from non-system-level Fonts folders.  Before doing this, Font Book showed Time New Roman, but not as a system font. After, Font Book showed Time New Roman as a system font. And the MWE compiled correctly.

Howdy,

At leastg in recent MacOS versions the Times New Roman.ttf is a System Font found in /System/Library/Fonts/Supplemental. Again,  check that it is available in Font Book.app.
