Are you using xelatex or lualatex to typeset the document?
I'm not sure about lualatex but when you use a font name, rather than font file name, with xelatex the system font system (e.g., Font Book.app) needs to know about the font.
In Font Book you can create a library containing the fonts in /usr/local/texlive/2024/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype. It may have problems with a couple of those fonts but tell it to ignore them. Once Font Book activates those fonts it should work fine.
