Unfortunately, when the computer was rebooted, the entire system became non-responsive that nothing could be done: I could still move the mouse cursor (which was a spinning beach ball of death) but nothing was clickable at all. Luckily, the activity monitor window was open, and I saw that every 5 minutes or so, the user CPU usage surged (and at that instant, the spinning beach ball returned to its arrow form, if you were prepared with your mouse at hand, you could click on some thing), and then the system became totally non-responsive again.</span></div></div></blockquote><br class=""></div><div>That may have been a lockup, but it may have been X11 rebuilding the font-cache, which may take a long time, depending on how old is your iMac is. Without knowing what the activity monitor showed, it’s difficult to say.</div><div><br class=""></div><div>Anyway, the installer leaves most of XQuartz intact, but for a couple of things.
