does not find libgs.dylib by itself if not told in one of those two ways. Now, at the beginning, if the variable LIBGS, although set in .bash_profile was not picked up, it would have explained the failure, with the caveat that the error message was different.

otherwise you have to do a recursive ?chown -R?, as you have seen from the stackexchange link. By the way, it?s probably better to chown to yourself:wheel, instead of yourself:staff.
