[OS X Emacs] Aquamacs question: disable/rename backup files?

that explains it.

(setq aquamacs-set-creator-codes-after-writing-files nil)

You can't rename then, as they are named automatically by the system  
to make up for facilities that are not provided by non-HFS file systems.
