I have done this now. I think 1.4rc2 is still somewhat sluggish by
comparison with 1.3, but it could be the wrong impression. One thing
I've noticed is that there seems to be a problem with paths for *TeX
executables. For instance, I tried compiling a LaTeX file and I got
this error:

Running `LaTeX' on `Metric3Lie' with ``pdflatex  -
interaction=nonstopmode "\input" Metric3Lie.tex''
/bin/sh: line 1: pdflatex: command not found

LaTeX exited abnormally with code 127 at Wed Jun 11 22:26:19

Has there been any change in the way Aquamacs reads the paths from
1.3 to 1.4?

Cheers, José
