[OS X Emacs] Return key unresponsive in C-c C-c mini buffer

I am having the following problem while editing .tex files in Aquamacs  
1.5 or 1.6.

I use C-c C-c and RETURN to get the LaTeX or pdfLaTeX compilation. I  
view my files in Skim 1.2.

Once in a while my minibuffer does not recognize/accept the RETURN  
key, so I can't get past the prompt without quitting (C-g...). The odd  
thing is that I can type anything else into the problematic prompt and  
it even recognizes Shift-RETURN, CMD-RETURN etc. (although it  
complains with an error saying this key is undefined), so it isn't  
like the key itself is having any trouble.

It happens quite often, but not always. I haven't figured out the  
pattern. When it does it is quite annoying of course.
