[OS X Emacs] PDF button missing

I downloaded version 1.8b. Now the PDF and the
bibtex buttons are missing. Further, I can't invoke
Math by the C-c  ~ command. The Mini buffer says: Latex
instead of PDF/Latex. Please advise. Thanks!
